John W. Potts, CPA

John Potts is the managing partner of Potts, Steele & White, P.A. He is Statesville, NC native, attending South Iredell High School. Upon graduation, he continued his education at Pfeiffer College, where he played on the basketball team and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.
John began his public accounting career with Dixon, Odom & Co., and J.A. Grisette before establishing his own practice in 1982. John gained experience in most areas of audit, accounting, and tax, including working with nonprofits, endowments, single audits, and municipal and county audits. John enjoys working with his clients on all areas of accounting advisory services and planning, including tax, estate, and succession planning for businesses.
John and his wife Cathy live in Statesville and are passionate about supporting the local community. They are active members of Broad Street United Methodist Church, where John has served on numerous committees. Active with tennis, golf, and cycling, both John and Cathy are continuously involved in some type of sporting activity. Traveling is something they both enjoy, and they have been able to see some beautiful parts of the world from the seat of a bicycle by combining two of their passions and taking bike trips.

Kara Steele was born in Iredell County and is a graduate of North Iredell High School.
Following high school Kara attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance before obtaining her CPA license.
Kara started her public accounting career with the firm and then with Dixon, Hughes, Goodman, LLP. After she and her husband Adam welcomed two children, Baylee and Bryson, Kara transitioned to working locally for Iredell-Statesville Schools. Kara continued working with public accounting by assisting the firm during her time at the school system during tax seasons. She re-joined the firm on a full-time basis in 2019. Kara brings a wealth of experience to the firm, focusing on accounting advisory services, tax preparation, planning, and projections for individuals and businesses.
Kara and her family reside in Northern Iredell County, where her kids are active in numerous sporting activities. They are active members of Christ Church in Statesville. When they are not on the basketball court or soccer field, the family loves doing anything outdoors, especially hiking and camping.
Rebecca C. White, CPA

Becky White is a native of Statesville and is a graduate of Statesville Sr. High School. After high school, Becky went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy from Gardner-Webb University before obtaining her CPA license.
Becky began her public accounting career with a local CPA firm before joining the firm in 2004. Becky has experience in all areas of audit, accounting and tax. She works with many not-for-profit engagements, which includes experience with endowments and compliance work. Becky also enjoys areas of individual, estate and business tax preparation, planning and advisory services.
Becky and her husband Jonathan live in Northern Iredell County. They have three children, Emma, William and Jenna, and are active members of Grassy Knob Baptist Church in Union Grove, NC. When not watching the kids volleyball or baseball games, the family loves spending time outside and traveling.
